From The Rocky Top X-Press’s tribute show to Bobby Osborne at the Osborne Brothers Fest ’23

Rocky Top @ The Opry with Dailey & Vincent on the 59th Opry Anniversary of the Osborne Brothers
Bobby Osborne II grew up surrounded by the sounds of country and bluegrass music. Almost weekly, he heard pioneers of the genre like Bill Monroe, Jim & Jesse, and especially his father and uncle, Bobby & Sonny Osborne—the famed Osborne Brothers— in the now legendary Dressing Room #2. The Grand Ole Opry was almost like a second home. Bobby’s first performance on the Opry stage was on July 1, 2003, playing guitar for the Osborne Brothers. By December of that year, he became their regular rhythm guitarist, playing with the duo during the final two years of their legendary career. Afterward, Bobby spent 18 years as a member of his father’s back up band the Rocky Top X-Press, performing on all six of Bobby senior’s albums. Along the way, Bobby worked with bluegrass greats like Jesse McReynolds and J.D. Crowe. He also served as Technical Coordinator at the Kentucky School of Bluegrass & Traditional Music. In 2011, he released his debut solo album “In The Tradition”. In 2025, Bobby II is stepping out on his own, preserving the Osborne Brothers’ musical legacy while forging a new path of his own.
